Growing up in commercial fishing industry in Port Edward, Roland has spent his whole life on or around boats. From the age of 3 onward, Roland accompanied his dad, a commercial fisherman, on fishing trips.
In the mid 80's, Roland began his career as a commercial fisherman with his own fishing boat. With all the experience he gained in working on engines, he decided to go to BCIT to get the piece of paper that would allow him to work on engines as a career.
Roland joined the M&P team as a mechanic in the spring of '93. Since then he has continued his education, becoming a Certified Mercury Outboard Technician in '98 and a Certified Master Technician for Outboards in 2009. He continues his education and is currently working towards becoming a Certified Master Technician for MerCruiser.
Roland currently enjoys boating on Horn Lake with his family. He purchased a new Sea Ray 185 Sport in the summer of 2010 and enjoys taking his wife and two children out on the lake. Roland is passing on a love for boating to his family; his daughter, Rachel, age 8, tried waterskiing for the first time last summer on the new family boat.
